Since launching in 2019, Swedish Gnista has earned global praise for pushing the non-alcoholic category forward. With dark, complex alcohol-free spirits that resemble fine spirits, Gnista continues to innovate—and now introduces a new red wine alternative.
For years, founder Erika Ollen has questioned what truly makes alcoholic drinks so satisfying (beyond the intoxication itself). After listening to hundreds of consumers and industry experts, her conclusion is clear:
“You cannot remove the alcohol from a wine or a spirit and get a result that provides enough satisfaction for those who enjoy alcoholic beverages, whether wines or cocktails. We know by now that a majority of people buying non-alcoholic grown-up beverages are not teetotalers. Instead, they want an option for Tuesday nights, or for the last drink of the evening when they don’t want a hangover. Our new alt-wine range is for them.”
Not a wine — still doing the job of a wine
Guided by the mantra “everything allowed as long as the result kicks ass and stays under 0.5% ABV,” Gnista Red is not de-alcoholised wine. Instead, it is crafted using techniques similar to those behind the Gnista spirits, where gastronomy, tradition, and modern food tech meet.
Every ingredient has a purpose. The goal is to deliver a full taste experience built on:
- tannins
- body
- earthiness
- tartness
- spice
- balanced sweetness
As a result, Gnista Red delivers the structure and satisfaction of red wine without trying to imitate it.
French and Italian first out
Handcrafted in small batches, the first two versions are:
Gnista Red French Style: Aromatic and perfumed, with ripe red berries and a fresh, satisfying tartness.
Gnista Red Italian Style: Designed to replace a medium-bodied red wine, offering tannins, cherries, and a floral-woody spice profile.
Together, they represent a new generation of alcohol-free red wine alternatives built for flavour, food pairing, and modern mindful drinking.
