The alcohol industry has changed rapidly over the past decade. Non-alcoholic beer led the first wave of premiumisation, and now non-alcoholic spirits are evolving just as quickly. What began as light and subtle drinks has shifted toward complex and intense alcohol-free spirits, driven by consumer demand for full-flavoured alternatives.

Swedish Gnista is handcrafted using a unique blend of gastronomy, state-of-the-art technology and classic spirit-making techniques. While Distillation, brewing and barrel ageing all play a role. This approach creates a non-alcoholic spirit with the depth and character of a fine spirit. It can even replace alcohol in cocktails while keeping the taste, structure, and look.

After a successful 2019 launch in top bars across Scandinavia and online in Europe, the time has come for a broader scale-up. Gnista has now partnered with two major distributors: Sprit & Co in Denmark and Leske in Norway. Sprit & Co is Denmark’s leading distributor of premium spirits, while Leske is Norway’s largest distributor and brand communicator for non-alcoholic premium drinks.

Christian Stray-Jansen, co-founder and CEO at Leske, shared his enthusiasm:

“In Gnista, we see a future Norwegian success! Floral Wormwood delivers exactly what it promises – a complex and intriguing taste that could easily be mistaken for a spirit. And trust me, that’s a good thing.”

In Oslo, the first bars adding Gnista to their menus include Bon Lio, Svanen, Territoriet and Restaurant Kontrast. Meanwhile in Copenhagen, Gnista is already thriving at venues such as Strøm, Brønnum, Kester Thomas and Tata.

Oscar Svendsen, founder of Sprit & Co, adds:

“We’re impressed how easy it is to activate Gnista – bars are really up for using this kind of product and Gnista is definitely one of its kind.”

Gnista’s founder, Erika Ollen remains confident about the future:
“We’ve verified that Gnista fills a real gap. Bars are selling four times as many bottles as we expected, and customers keep buying again. Still, we waited to scale up until we knew our quality was consistently high — and now we have that proof.”

Industry experts agree. David Gluckman, the globally recognised spirit guru behind Baileys and Tanqueray, says:

“GNISTA’s first product “Floral Wormwood” offers a complex array of flavours: it’s peppery, earthy with an attractive hint of liquorice. And it has just the right degree of ‘difficulty’ essential in an alcohol replacement product. Definitely the most impressive non-alco spirit I’ve tried.”
